All endings explained — good / neutral / dark

Hogwarts Legacy has 3 distinct endings tied to a final-act dialogue choice. Spoiler-bounded.

All Hogwarts Legacy endings

The game has 3 endings triggered by your choice in the final main quest The Final Repository. Plus one postgame epilogue that varies slightly by house and Sebastian's questline.

Path A — Hide the magic (Good)

  • During Fig and Ranrok's confrontation, choose to leave the magic locked.
  • Postgame: peaceful tone, Fig retires, you keep using your magic responsibly.
  • This is the most narratively closed ending.

Path B — Use the magic against Ranrok (Neutral)

  • Choose to harness the Ancient Magic for the fight.
  • Postgame: heroic tone, you become a respected figure in the Wizarding World.
  • The default-feeling ending — most players reach this naturally.

Path C — Take the magic for yourself (Dark / morally grey)

  • After winning, when offered the choice to deposit the magic in the repository or keep it for yourself, choose to keep it.
  • Postgame: ominous tone, Fig grows suspicious of you, you're framed as a future antagonist.
  • Triggers different epilogue dialogue.

Save before the choice

Make a manual save before entering the Final Repository. The choice is the very last decision and you can save-scum all 3.

What's also locked at this point

  • Sebastian Sallow's last conversation — varies based on whether you reported him or not.
  • The Niamh Fitzgerald postgame mention — varies based on which house you picked.

Postgame

  • All 3 endings unlock the same postgame world. You can keep doing side quests, collect what you missed, fight more bosses. No ending locks you out of postgame content.

If stuck: if you can't trigger Path C, you needed to keep certain decisions throughout the game. Save-scumming the final choice doesn't unlock C — it tracks your earlier behavior. Check the in-game Path tracker (the "morality" indicator in the menu).
