Room of Requirement + Vivariums — complete guide

Your home base. How to unlock vivariums, what every workstation does, and the upgrade path.

Room of Requirement guide

The Room of Requirement unlocks during the main quest The Room of Requirement in Act 1. It's your base of operations — crafting, gear upgrades, beast care, plant cultivation.

Workstations explained

  • Potion Station — brew potions from herb ingredients. Required for some quests.
  • Plant Pot (Small/Medium/Large) — grow Mandrakes, Mallowsweet, Venomous Tentacula, Chinese Chomping Cabbage.
  • Workbench — apply Traits to gear. Each Trait adds a passive effect.
  • Loom — upgrade gear levels using Beast resources (fur, feathers, horn).

Vivariums — the beast sanctuary

Vivariums unlock during The Elf, the Nab-Sack and the Loom main quest. There are 4 vivariums unlocked across postgame:

  1. Forest Vivarium (default) — first one, mossy biome.
  2. Coastal Vivarium — beachy, rocky cliffs.
  3. Hogsmeade Valley Vivarium — meadows and grasses.
  4. Forbidden Forest Vivarium — dark, eerie.

Use the Nab-Sack to capture beasts in the open world, then release them in vivariums. Care for them (feed, brush) to harvest trait materials for the Loom.

Beasts that matter

  • Phoenix — exclusive postgame, late-quest unlock. Required for the Phoenix Rising trophy.
  • Diricawl — fast beast resources for early-game gear upgrades.
  • Graphorn — required for one main quest, mountable as a special steed.

Tips

  • Plant Mandrakes immediately — they're the best combat plant (stuns groups).
  • Pull Chinese Chomping Cabbages from your inventory mid-fight — they melt enemies.
  • Trait crafting + Loom upgrades stack — Tier 6+ gear is necessary for Lvl 30+ enemies.

If stuck: if a vivarium isn't accepting a beast, the species is wrong for that biome. Check the in-game beast info — each beast has a preferred environment.
