Sebastian Sallow's questline — should you learn Crucio?
Sebastian's questline is the game's most morally weighted thread. He'll teach you the three Unforgivable Curses — Crucio, Imperio, Avada Kedavra — across his quest chain. The choice is whether to learn them and what to do at the climax of his arc.
What you actually decide
- Learn or refuse Crucio in In the Shadow of the Study. Refusing locks all three Unforgivables for the run.
- Anne's curse climax — at the cave fight, you choose to: (a) report Sebastian to Professor Weasley, (b) let him keep the secret. Reporting locks his quests after Solomon Sallow's death.
- The Solomon scene — Sebastian intends to kill his uncle. You choose to stop him or let him.
Path A — Teach me everything
- Learn all 3 Unforgivables.
- Continue Sebastian's quests to the end.
- He stays a friend in postgame.
- Get a free Imperio target in combat once per cooldown — useful for tough fights.
Path B — Report him
- Sebastian goes to Azkaban.
- His exclusive postgame is locked.
- More "good guy" tone if that matters to your roleplay.
Path C — Refuse Crucio early
- The whole questline still progresses but you never learn the Unforgivables.
- Slightly weaker mid-game combat for a few hours but you finish the game just fine.
What the trophies need
- The Unforgivable — cast all 3 Unforgivables. Locked behind Path A.
If stuck: if Sebastian's quest stops giving you new objectives, you may have an out-of-order side quest blocking it. Talk to Ominis Gaunt in the Slytherin common room (or near the entrance if you're not Slytherin).
