Wandering in the Dark — exit walkthrough
Keira Metz drags Geralt into the elven ruins beneath Velen. The maze + a Foglet boss + a Caretaker-style golem makes this the longest "am I lost?" stretch outside the DLC.
Path through the ruins
- Follow Keira to the lift. Place the Phylactery on the pedestal — she activates it.
- Drop down the elf shaft. The fall is scripted — no fall damage.
- Light the way with Igni. The torches you light persist; future you will need them.
- The first room with a sliding door — Keira opens it; just wait through her cast.
The drowner pit
- Wave fight, 5–6 drowners. Stay on the upper ledge and Igni them when they cluster.
The Foglet (mini-boss)
- Use Moon Dust bombs to lock him in place.
- Specter Oil on silver sword — mandatory.
- Yrden trap at choke points; he's vulnerable inside.
The golem (Caretaker prototype)
- Quen up.
- Fast attack from behind only — front blocks everything.
- Aard staggers him for a free combo.
Final exit
- After the golem, the spirit appears. Pick "kill the spirit" if you want the orphans of Downwarren to survive (see our Family Matters best outcome guide).
- Loot the chest before exiting — it has a guaranteed Place of Power rune nearby and a rare diagram.
- The lift back up auto-triggers when you talk to Keira.
If stuck: if Keira is standing still doing nothing, you skipped a Witcher Senses prompt one room back. Backtrack until the white question marks reappear.
