Lost Valley — Level 3 walkthrough
The most famous level in the original game. Lara descends into a lush valley filled with raptors and a T-Rex, with a broken waterwheel puzzle as the central objective.
The waterwheel puzzle
Find 3 Machine Cogs scattered around the valley and place them in the waterwheel mechanism. The waterwheel drains the water and opens the path forward.
The T-Rex
- Spawns once you've explored enough of the valley.
- Run when you see it. Empty pistol mag while sprinting backward.
- The shotgun + standing still kills it in ~6 shells. Risky but fastest.
- Magnums (if you brought them from a previous level) are the safest — bigger damage, more reach.
Secrets
- 3 secrets. The trickiest is above the waterwheel — requires a precise running jump from the top platform.
If stuck: if a Machine Cog is missing from the waterwheel mechanism, check the caves accessed via underwater passages — at least one cog is gated behind a swim section most players skip on first run.
